Today – Thursday 1st May 2014, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was seen addressing workers at the 2014 May Day Rally held in Abuja.
Under normal circumstances, the event should be a celebratory affair considering it is a day set aside to appreciate workers in the country. Sadly, Nigeria isn’t “normal” at the moment.
For days now, the #BringBackOurGirls conversation has been trending, but we are yet to get any statement on the issue from the President via his spokesperson Reuben Abati or Special Adviser on Media Affairs Reno Omokri.
With protests going around the nation and world, to bring our young souls home, it is quite sad to see our commander-in-chief all smiles at the May Day Rally.
Sending the Vice President Namadi Sambo or a representative in his stead, would have shown a sign of respect for the nation in grief.
Nigeria, this is where your President was, while protests were ongoing. All images were shared by Reuben Abati minutes ago.
