Honourable Simon Oshi has condemned the attack on the former deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival held in Nuremberg, Germany.
Senator Ekweremadu, who was attending as a speaker and special guest of honour at the event organised by the Ndi-igbo Germany community was reportedly beaten up and publicly humiliated.
Simon Oshi in a statement on Sunday described the incident as an embarrassment to the country.
He Stated: I’m personally very disappointed and Embarrassed by the act of these hoodlums. How can You want your own country when We still can’t unit as one? It’s quite pathetic and shameful. This is hight of hypocrisy. How would the foreigners respect us when we don’t respect even our own leaders.
I totally stand to condemn this act and I can bluntly say it is totally unacceptable. This tarnishes the image of the country and Africa as a whole
Reports this morning says that some of the culprits who perpetrated the act had been apprehended and called on the German government and law enforcement agencies to ensure they faced the consequences of their actions.
