My Dear Friends,
Following the official announcement of my appointment on Thursday, October 15, 2015, my mobile phones have been inundated with your congratulatory text messages and calls. Many of you sent your messages to my inbox. Some of you personally called at my residence to congratulate and pray with me and my family over this appointment. I wish to express my profound and sincere gratitude to all of you my Dear Friends for your goodwill messages, prayers and well wishes. I cannot thank you well enough but from the depth of my heart I am sincerely grateful.
I am immensely grateful to God my inexhaustible source of inspiration. May the Lord’s name be praised now and forever, for He has done great things for me and Holy is His name. I feel truly honored and humbled that I was found worthy of this appointment as the 5th incoming Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious Benue State University, Makurdi, Nigeria. I consider this appointment as a divine call to service and with the help of God I will justify the confidence reposed in me by taking the University to greater heights.
May I also express my sincere regards to the Visitor to the University, Dr. Samuel I. Ortom for this opportunity to be of service to Benue State and Nigeria at large. My appointment as Vice-Chancellor has proved that leadership is ordained by God and people are used as instruments to this divine call to leadership.
I wish to in a very special way thank all the contestants who stood in the race for the position of Vice-Chancellor, Benue State University. Special recognition goes to Prof. Nicholas Akise Ada and Prof. Julius Begha Ashiko, who keenly contested the office of Vice-Chancellorship with me and have called to congratulate me and to pledge their support for the growth of the Benue State University, Makurdi. It was indeed a brotherly contest.
Let me clearly state here that there is a lot of work to be done by all stakeholders of the University. Let us all dedicate ourselves diligently to the course of building a more robust Citadel of Excellence where generations will acquire knowledge for the liberation of our society as captured succinctly in the motto of the University “Scientia Liberatio Populorum”- Knowledge for the Liberation of the People.
I thank you all and request you to kindly keep me in your prayers for the success of my tenure of office.
Please accept my sincere and warm regards.
Prof. Msugh Moses Kembe
