The indiscriminate killings of young people in the state which is said to be cult related is experiencing an exponential growth by the day as not less than 5 persons have been reportedly killed in the state within the last 7 days.
A source told Benue Reporters that the deceased were all students at various levels of their academic life.
In reaction to the development, the Special Senior Assistant to Samuel Ortom on Student Affairs, Hon Orngu Anngu had a serious meeting with the Benue state Commissioner of police with a view to finding intervention strategies to end cult related activities in schools.
“I came out of my honeymoon to seek drastic interventions to end the spate of cult-related killings involving mostly students in Makurdi metropolis.
I was at the office of the Commissioner Of Police Benue State with all the Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of Administration, CID, Operations, PPRO, NUBESS President and other heads of Police departments brass in Benue State in attendance.”
According to him, drastic steps are under way in order to deliver the mandate of Governor Samuel Ortom on security in the state.
“We had fruitful deliberations with timelines to deliver on the security mandate of my principal, Governor Samuel Ortom to protect lives and property of all Benue citizens.”
